5.3.6.1
If a Street meets any of the following criteria, then it is a type 2 Street:
- Is the Street an entity in its own right?
- Is the Street a Highway Maintainable at Public Expense?
- Does the Street have real world Objects (addresses) recorded against it?
- Does the Street not have an official designated Street Name?
5.3.6.2
In Figure 4 the Street is a type 1 Street, officially named as “High Street”, and the central section is locally known as “Market Place”. In this case it is appropriate to enter a type 4 Street with the name “Market Place” and cross-reference it to the appropriate ESU for “High Street”.
5.3.6.3
Unofficial Street Names must not be described by a Street Description. Any Street Descriptions required for the Street must be held in the type 2 Street Data. The type 4 Street is for locally known Street Names which are not officially issued by the SNN Authority.
5.3.6.4
Type 4 Streets must not be split at ward, parish or District Council boundaries. Splitting type 4 Streets defeats their purpose of recording long distance routes.
